Champagne Guy Charbaut

André Charbaut founded his winery in 1936, after working as an accountant and also as a representative for a wine merchant. This man of strong character bought his first plot of land in the village of Mareuil-Sur-Aÿ in France and also in some other exceptional wine-growing locations, on hills rated from 90% to 100% on the Echelle des crus ("scale of growth"), which later produced champagne of the highest quality.

André soon created his own successful brand. In 1946, André bought an annexe to the Chateau of Montebello in Mareuil-Sur-Aÿ, where he set up his offices and his new wine presses. The estate pressed grapes for the biggest names in Champagne. All invoked the expertise of the Charbaut family.

In the 1950s, his two sons joined him. After André ( the grandfather) died and his elder son retired, the younger son  Guy, decided to continue the winemaking and professional work that his father had passed on to him.

In 2010, the family business was taken over by  Xavier (Guy's son) and his wife Nathalie, who continue to carefully develop their wines according to an expertise that is now almost a hundred years old.

Nathalie and Xavier Charbaut are totally committed to their estate, the preservation of the good name of the brand and the history of the Guy Charbaut brand. They are always open to new ideas, progress and improvement of their products.
